OSCE head: the European Union can lift sanctions against Uzbekistan

The European union can lift sanctions concerning Uzbekistan, imposed after the Andizhan events of 2005, OSCE operating Chairman, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Spain Miguel Angel Moratinos declared, informs RIA Novosti.
We shall remind, EU imposed sanctions against Uzbekistan in November, 2005 in connection with Uzbekistan authorities’ refusal to resolve carrying out international independent investigation of disorders in Andizhan, which took place the night of May 13, 2005.
"Andizhan events will be considered again, given a new assessment", - Moratinos told while making an official two-day visit to Tashkent, at a meeting with journalists on Thursday, April 12. OSCE Chairman expressed hope, that "in the view of a new dialogue between EU and Uzbekistan we can lift these measures".
