The mass protest rally taking place on the main Bishkek square for several days was broken up on Thursday evening by forces of Kyrgyz law enforcement bodies. Dispersal of demonstration was preceded by a crowd of up to 100 young men throwing stones and bottles at militiamen, guarding the Government House. In response militiamen started dispersing young men, applying noise grenades and tear gas. Last night about 100 young men - participants of protest rally were arrested in Bishkek.
As IA 24.kg informs, today total circulation of the largest oppositional newspaper Agyim has been arrested in Kyrgyzstan. General Prosecutor’s office suspended the edition’s publication at an independent print-shop Freedom House, took away printout plates, and also withdrew advance copies; raped electronic version. Circulation of the newspaper was arrested at night under the order of Kyrgyz General Prosecutor. The issue comprised materials on protest rally dispersal, press conferences of opposition leaders, Prime Minister Almazbekh Atambaev and Minister of Internal Affairs Bolotbekh Nogoybayev.
The most popular Kyrgyz news agency IA 24.kg web-site remains silent since night. Another popular news agency AKI-press web-site loads so slowly that receiving information from is quite impossible.
Still consider total censorship was introduced in the country is probably premature. Internet-resources probably suffer over-loading in connection with the great growth of visitors’ number. However system-administrators of independent Internet-editions inform of mass hacker attacks at their web-servers last night.
We shall remind, Kyrgyz authorities declared yesterday, they were not inclined to introduce state of emergency and forbid carrying out peaceful demonstrations. Though local mass media inform office equipment, flags and all documents were withdrawn at offices of opposition party Ar-Namyis and Incorporated front “For the worthy future of Kyrgyzstan” at night.
The search at Ar-Namyis office together with withdrawal of property and documents was carried out by National Security Committee (NSC) of Kyrgyzstan employees in connection with criminal case initiated by General Prosecutor’s office on the fact of mass disorders.
People in uniform without any corresponding documents rushed into the office of Ata-Meken party as well and started withdrawing materials.
All opposition parties and movements’ leaders, who took part in the nine-day protest rally received summons for interrogation at NSC in the morning.
