Uzbek media outlets report that the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan nominated the head of state Islam Karimov for president.

LDPU Political Council voted to schedule the next convention for early November and have it officially endorse Karimov as candidate for president.

All five officially registered political parties in Uzbekistan have thus nominated their candidates. Dilorom Tashmuhamedova representing the Adolat party, Ahtam Tursunov (Fidorkorlar), Hurshid Dosmuhamedov (Milli Tiklanish), and Asliddin Rustamov (People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan) will race Karimov for president.
