Kyrgyz parliament turns down abolition of prosecution for polygamy

The Jogorku Kenesh (national parliament) discussed abolition of prosecution for polygamy. Acting legislation (Article 153 of the Criminal Code) stipulates up to two years imprisonment for polygamy. Its abolition was suggested by Justice Minister Marat Kaiypov.
